🎂 Age Calculator

Why Exact Age Matters for Forms and Exams

Many government exams, scholarship applications, job notifications and admission forms specify a precise age criterion — for example, "must not exceed 25 years as on 1st July" — and even a few days' difference can decide eligibility. This calculator works out your exact age in years, months and days as of today, so you can quickly check where you stand against such cut-offs.

The calculation accounts for varying month lengths and leap years: it compares your birth date to today's date, borrows days from the previous month when needed, and borrows a year from the month count when the month difference goes negative — the same logic used in manual age calculation for official documents.

How It Works

1. Select your date of birth

Use the date picker to choose your exact birth date.

2. Calculate

Click "Calculate Age" to instantly see your age in years, months and days.

3. Cross-check against a cut-off date

For exam or scholarship eligibility, always check the exact reference date mentioned in the official notification rather than today's date.

Tip: For official forms, many exam bodies calculate age as of a specific reference date (not the application date) — always re-check against that exact date mentioned in the notification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculator account for leap years?

Yes — because it works directly with JavaScript date objects and calendar month lengths, February 29th in leap years is handled correctly.

Can I use this for an age-as-on-date other than today?

This tool calculates age as of today. For a specific future or past cut-off date, subtract or add the difference manually, or ask us at YDR Foundation's student help desk if you need it for a specific scholarship or exam.
